Questions about Teeth in a Day
Serving Choto, Northshore, and surrounding areas of Knoxville, TN
More than 35 million Americans live without an entire dental arch of teeth or have lost all their teeth. This affects your daily life, your appearance, and your confidence. Thanks to advances in dental technology, your cosmetic dentist in Choto can restore your smile in just a single day by receiving the Teeth in a Day series of dental implants.
Here are some frequently asked questions about Teeth in a Day, also known as the All-On-4 implant system.
Are Teeth in a Day right for me?
Teeth in a Day is best for individuals who either are about to lose their teeth or currently wear dentures due to profound tooth loss. Four out of every five patients who receive Teeth in a Day have been told they were not candidates for traditional dental implants. That is because the Teeth in a Day procedure uses just the frontal part of the jaw, which means no bone grafts or sinus augmentations are needed.
How does Teeth in a Day work?
Teeth in a Day consists of a fixed bridge of replacement teeth, which are anchored into the mouth with four dental implants that are installed into the jaw bone.
Because this procedure uses the frontal part of the jaw, which contains more dense bone, the back implants can be placed at an angle—greatly shortening the healing time as compared to a standard implant procedure, which places the implant straight into the bone and can entail a healing time of up to six months.
What can I expect from a Teeth in a Day procedure?
First, impressions and X-rays will be taken of your mouth. These impressions are used as a model to construct your new fixed bridge of replacement teeth. After anesthetic is administered, the four implant screws are installed in the mouth. Your replacement teeth are fabricated and installed later that day.
The procedure takes approximately 2 ½ hours per dental arch, but the end of the day you will have a brand-new set of permanent teeth, restoring your smile and helping you regain your old lifestyle and your confidence.
Is a Teeth in a Day procedure painful?
We use a local anesthetic to complete this procedure. Your Northshore dentist also offers sedation dentistry services, using nitrous oxide to keep patients calm and relaxed even during lengthy procedures. We also typically prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication prior to the procedure, to help minimize swelling.
Some patients report mild discomfort following their procedure, but it generally subsides within a couple of days.
How much does Teeth in a Day cost?
The cost of each treatment varies depending on any additional treatments that may be necessary. Although Teeth in a Day may cost more upfront than a set of dentures, it is a more permanent and stable option.
